Browsing Without an Account

You can browse the map, search courts, view court details, use filters, and open directions without creating an account.

Sign in with Apple

If you choose to sign in with Apple, Blacktop receives an app-specific account identifier from Apple. Apple may also provide an email address or private relay email depending on your Apple settings.

Blacktop uses this account information only to sync saved courts and associate your court fact and court vibe votes with your account.

Information Blacktop Does Not Collect

Blacktop does not ask for your phone number, payment details, contacts, photos, advertising identifiers, or public profile information.

Location

If you choose to use the locate button, iOS may ask for location permission. Blacktop uses your location while the app is open to center the map on nearby basketball courts.

Your precise location is processed on your device. Blacktop does not store your location and does not send your location to the Blacktop court database. You can disable location access at any time in iOS Settings.

Saved Courts

If you are not signed in, saved courts are stored locally on your device. If you sign in with Apple, saved court IDs are synced to your account so they can follow you across devices.

Votes

If you sign in and vote on court facts or court vibe labels, Blacktop stores your vote with your account ID and the relevant court ID. Aggregate vote counts may be shown to other users, but your personal identity is not displayed in the app.

Court Data

Blacktop downloads public court records from its hosted court database. Some court records are imported from OpenStreetMap and may be incomplete until manually checked.

The app displays attribution for OpenStreetMap data. OpenStreetMap data is available under the Open Database License.

Service and Security Logs

When the app requests court records, hosting providers may process basic network information such as IP address, request time, and error logs for security, abuse prevention, reliability, and delivery of the requested data. Blacktop does not use this information for advertising or tracking.

Analytics and Advertising

Blacktop does not include third-party advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioral analytics in this release.

Children

Blacktop is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

If Blacktop adds public profiles, chat, payments, advertising, or additional analytics in the future, this policy and the App Store privacy answers should be updated before release.
